We had a vigorous, high energy class this morning as the weather gets cooler we can raise the energy level to a higher octave. There were more men in the class than usual, and they stayed the whole 90 min which was nice to see. These are the glory days of Fall when the conditions are near perfect for our yoga class. Start your day with deep stretching and power holding of the poses. All levels welcome, no reservation required, bring a towel or a mat and some drinking water. The fee is 10 $ per person which is to pay the county permit fee and insurance.
Thank you and I hope to see you on the beach.
I wanted to share this email complaint about my yoga class with everyone because it may be others who are thinking the same way but have not voiced their concern to me. I will show you this persons email and my answers to the complaint.
Here is the complaint email.
You have absolutely no overhead since you are using County property to hold your classes. You do not provide water or a yoga mat. How do you justify a $10 charge. If 30 people attended you are taking more per hour than a family physician with over 10+ years of education and massive overheads. Please comment
Goodness, why do you assume it’s free to me because it is not. You may check if you like but I have to pay a permit fee to the county. If this were not the case then as you say every yoga teacher would be teaching dozens of classes all over the public beach. This is why they impose a permit fee for which you need the highest yoga credentials and a comprehensive insurance policy which included the county. Just because I teach on the beach does not me that I am not a professional.
My Second Comment
I still cant believe that you would make such an accusation without consulting me or the county first. Once more, unlike renting a studio in which to teach, my rental of the space on the beach is obviously outdoors where weather forces me to cancel my classes frequently. The county does not compensate me for. these cancelled classesI and during the summer half the classes are empty or with one or two people in them because it’s too hot to practice yet I have to pay the same fee.
Please come down to the beach and let me walk you over to the P&R offices if you don’t believe me.
Now you respond please hopefully with an apology.
This morning was our first day back to our regular yoga class schedule. The Fall/Winter schedule os now in effect. Classes are on Monday, Wednesday, Frida, Saturday 9 am to 10:30 am.
It was a perfect morning with a cloud covered sky and soft sounds of waves and sea gulls in the background. These are the most ideal days for yoga on the beach so plan to attend and begin your day in the most beautiful way possible. I hope to see everyone soon. Please dress for the weather bring drinking water and exact change of $10 per person.
Love and peace forever
I have just been told by Parks & Rec. that reserved events, of which my yoga classes are one, will be allowed back on the beach starting Wednesday the 12th of October. Class will begin at 9:00 am and is 90 min. long. Please bring with you a towel or a mat, some drinking water, and the class fee of $10.00 per person, in cash please. I am so excited to be back and to be able to enjoy this wonderful weather after the storm. I hope all of you were able to come through the storm healthy and whole. I am looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Love and Hope
I hope that everyone survived the incredible power of Hurricane Ian. Siesta Key and Sarasota were spared the major damages that happened in Sanibel and Fort Myers. Siesta Key beach looks like it did not lose any sand or suffer any major damage. Siesta Key public beach was closed down before the storm and I do not know when we will get the word that we can return. When I know I will announce when the next yoga class will take place. Regardless the new start time of 9:00 am is in place and the classes will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday. I had decided to ride the storm out in my home and the experience was intense and frightening but it has made me so grateful for my life and for the privilege of teaching my yoga on the most beautiful beach in the world to the nicest people in the world. Stay tuned for more updates as I learn more about when we can resume our yoga classes.
Stay healthy and happy
All my love
At this time IAn is still just a tropical storm but is predicted to gather force by Wednesday. The forecast called for relatively low winds on Monday with the storm reaching its peak by Tuesday and Wednesday. The path of the storm could change either heading further away from Sarasota or perhaps closer. We must keep vigilant but if it seems to be verring away from us I can see holding class tomorrow Monday. I am certain that Wednesday’s class will be cancelled but again Friday may be quiet enough to hold class. I will kep you informed. Its also import to know that Saturday October 1 the class start time will move from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. Stay safe and healthy. Hoping to see every very soon.
Summer has been long and hot but there is a slight chill in the air as we move into the Fall season of yoga on Siesta Key public beach. I had been teaching the yoga classes through out the summer with only a few cancellation due to rain. But the most ideal weather is just around the corner and starting on October 1 I take the start time to 9:00 am until then I will start the classes at 8:30 am. The weather has already cooled off and the mornings are just glorious. Start your yoga class habit early and bring energy and healing energy to start your day with mind, body and soul in alignment, in harmony with the earth sun and sea. Hope to see you all soon.
Over 30 members of a Canadian Paddle Boat Club attended Monday’s Yoga class & I must say this group was so willing & cooperative. They behaves beautifully, focusing their full attention on my instructions & uncomplainingly participating for the entire 90 min. class, regardless of the challenges the poses and movements may have presented to them. It was a pleasure to teach such a lovely group of young people. I love teaching such large classes as the collective energy inspires and motivates me. This time of year when the summer temperatures can be be quite hot, even early in the morning, fewer people attend which gives me the opportunity to take the poses to a very deep level both physically & spiritually. So for me large classes are very motivating but our smaller Summer classes can be inspirational on deeper healing levels, and this with the added advantage of a warm ocean just steps away in which you can bath & swim to your hearts content after class is worth it’s weight in gold. Thank you every one who attended my Monday class I enjoyed teaching it very much. Hope to see everyone on Wednesday 20/22 at 8:30 am.
It’s been a wonderful summer so far & the new 8:30 am start time seems to be working fine for everyone therefore we will then keep this start time till October when we will start a half an hour later at 9:00am. All Summer classes start at 8:30 am and end at 10:00 am Mon. Wed. Fri. Sat. This Monday 7/18/22 I am expecting a group of 30 athletes from Canada so if you would like to join this class you are more than welcome, but you may want to show up a few min. before start time to find your perfect place in class. Class is held, as always, on Siesta Key Public beach between the blue and the green lifeguard stands. Bring water, dress for the heat and please bring exact change of $10 per person. Don’t miss these summer classes, the heat helps us to stretch more deeply & then you can jump into the ocean to cool off and enjoy the water. There is no better therapy then sun, sea & yoga.
I will be teach Friday July 1 and Saturday July 2nd but not on July 4th as the beach tends to be very busy and the beach is strewn with garbage from the night before. If you decide to come on Friday and or Saturday be aware that it is crowded and to show up early to find parking. Class begins at 8:30 am all summer. We have been fortunate with the weather as it has not been too hot in the mornings and there usually is a nice breeze to cool us down. Happy 4th of July weekend to everyone. See you all very soon.
