When you do yoga outdoors you can experience yoga as it was originally intended. “Being outdoors gives you access to a whole other world of sensations. It helps you feel part of a boundless existence, at one with an intelligent and sympathetic universe,” The pure unpredictability of being outside and exposed to the elements can strengthen your innate bond with nature and inspire your yoga practice allowing you to feel the poses in a whole new way. My yoga classes on SIesta Key beach are designed to awaken your senses to the beauty of nature as you strengthen, energize and realign your body.
When you practice yoga outside you feel as if the natural environment becomes a wondrous spiritual sanctuary for enriching and broadening your experience of each pose and yourself. I lead you with a style of hatha yoga which allows you to move from feeling to action following your body’s natural inclination and rhythms. You’ll enjoy the flow of one pose into another without abrupt changes in body positioning as my slow and deliberate instruction allows you to take your time and connect to the sensations that are inspired by the poses. Yoga is a multi-sensual, organic, deeply spiritual experience, if you allow it to be.
With outdoor yoga the craft of sequencing is often influenced by environmental conditions such as the variations in heat, wind or humidity therefore my posture sequences are never exactly the same from class to class. I believe the flow of one pose into another must follow the rhythm and needs of the body and mind, but always within the natural flow of the environmental moment. No two yoga classes have exactly the same sequence of poses but they are based on the same overall philosophy of motion, control and relaxation.
Reconnecting your body mind and spirit on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world can be a truly exhilarating experience. I invite you to come down to the beach and enjoy one of my yoga classes even if you have never tried yoga before, you can stay for the whole or part of the class and leave whenever you like, I don’t ever judge you. Classes are held on Siesta Key Public beach, on the sand, between the green and blue lifeguard stands, (watch video below). Class start times change seasonally so be sure to check the Schedule Page. And check my Free Yoga Policy page for info on costs and fees.
